2012 Battle of the Burnett

The Sandy Hook Ski Club at Bundaberg again turned on an amazing weekend of racing, albeit one which was a little damp. With the two day formatting pitting the skiers on both social and rails, it really is a great race that sorts the men from the boys. If you haven't done it - sign up now for next year! Not only is it an amazing piece of river to race on, it's also a great venue and some of the funnest racing you'll take part in.

Reminiscent of Berri, the long laps on the river provide fast speeds, sweeping turns and then the challenge of coming back across other's washes - really making it a skiers race.

Was also great to see Noel Griffin make the treck up with Blazen on the Sunday, having worked hard on the boat to have it prepared. The boys showed the way in the expert race, chased closely by Wild thing, possibly the extra 80km of racing the day before playing a toll on the lad's legs.

Masterstroke took out the outboard class, after Rapid Pulse, taking the win in social failed to back up on Sunday. Fastnuts took the 60mph win and Logan Dewar showed everybody just how quick he is dominating the young ones. Full results will be available soon.

Hellrazor takes record at Berri

Berri, in South Australia, turned on a hot weekend of racing for the 2012 Berri 90. With temperatures in the mid-high 30's on Sunday, racing was tough going, but standout performances were still delivered by the top teams. Saturday's Social and Mayhem racing started off the weekend. Unfortunately their were some casualties in superclass with the tough conditions taking their toll. Blazen looked strong early, only to have the motor go off song before the end of the run, ruling them out for the weekend, Elm Street also encountering problems. Hellrazor stormed home to the win, Superman holding off 99PC by four seconds for second and third respectively. While Blazen had a rough day, the Burnin crew had a great run to take out the unlimited Mayhem, and finish only a second off Superman's time.

Race day was hot. Hellrazor and Superman were first off the line and by the time they came back past the ski club, Hellrazor had already settled into the lead which they continued to stretch to take the win, and the record by almost a minute back to Superman. Superman lapped consistently to hold off 99PC by 9 seconds for second and third again. All three boats coming in under the old record.

There were some great results across all classes - check out Ski Racing Australia's new website or Ski Racing SA for more details and results.
